About UN population (UNFPA)
UNFPA is the UN sexual and reproductive health agency, ensuring the rights and choices of women, girls, and young people across more than 150 countries. Guided by its mandate, UNFPA is dedicated to does whatever it takes to make sure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person can fulfill their potential.
Premise
This brand refresh project stemmed from UNFPA’s findings after conducting a global brand study, which revealed confusion around its mandate and values, as well as inconsistent brand application across regions that limited unified communication.
Objective
Develop a new visual identity that ensures clarity and cohesion worldwide.
Research & Ideation
Assessment of Current State
The lack of brand guidelines and governance has weakened UNFPA’s brand impact. Without core brand standards and assets reflecting individual interpretations rather than a unified organizational identity. This inconsistency, combined with fragmented style application, leads to inefficient resource use driving up cumulative design costs.
Proposed Brand vision
Create a unified brand system capable of simplifying and enabling employees and partners to understand and communicate a consistent brand identity.
Solution
1.
We developed a strategic visual identity based on three core values: boldness, inclusiveness, and uniqueness. Boldness is expressed through colors, inclusiveness through a custom gradient, and uniqueness through typography.
2.
Create a unified brand experience that enables employees and partners to understand and communicate a consistent brand identity. The key goal is to develop a streamlined design system that simplifies processes, supports rapid and consistent content creation, and establishes clear approval protocols to align efforts organization-wide.
3.
We organized and developed a digital brand kit—a go-to platform for all things related to the UNFPA brand. This resource hub allows internal staff to download design assets, streamlining the creative process. (Note: As the project is still in progress, this work cannot be shown publicly)
